The tale of a woman posing as a male butler in 19th century Ireland when female independence was inexistent and mostly discouraged, Albert Nobbs (Glenn Close) escapes a destitute life by disguising herself as a man. However, when she meets a handsome painter, she seeks to dismantle her facade. In the course of reconstructing an ordinary life, she acquires the company of a gorgeous young house maid who has her own man-seeking agendas.
